Fitness App Development Australia — Travel HIIT Case Study

The problem is not motivation, it is the room

Training collapses on the road because the equipment is gone and the routine goes with it. High-intensity interval training is the obvious answer — it needs a few square metres and no kit — but a guest standing in a hotel room still has to know which movements, in what order, for how long.

Travel HIIT answered that with programmed video. Guests at partner hotels get professionally developed workouts, delivered daily, with a built-in timer clock so bodyweight intervals run without a stopwatch and mental arithmetic.

The Product

The app opens on the day's workout: a trainer introducing the station, a demonstration clip of the movement, and the set timer running underneath. Workouts are grouped by where you are — Studio HIIT, Home HIIT, and You HIIT — so the hotel partnership tier and the general-access tier live in the same app without one feeling like a locked door.

Travellers not staying at a participating hotel can still download the app and take the You HIIT bodyweight workout for free, in their own time.

Key Features

  • Daily programmed workout videos from qualified trainers
  • Built-in interval timer with per-set countdown
  • Bodyweight throughout — no equipment, no gym
  • Hotel partner content alongside a free general-access workout
  • Movement demonstrations at each station

HIIT was a well-supported choice at the time: endorsed by Queensland Health, and voted the third top fitness trend for 2019 in the American College of Sports Medicine's annual survey.

Health and fitness products attract gates that a general consumer app does not — health claims, injury and liability, and what you may say to a user about their own body. A Launch Gate Audit is built to surface those before release. More work of this kind in the portfolio.
