Home Builder App Development Australia — Metricon Studio M Case Study
The appointment where a house stops being a floor plan
Metricon Homes entrusted Envisage Apps to build an iPad app to assist their customers through the colour selection process at their Studio M selection centre in Queensland.
Studio M is Metricon's Inspiration and Design Centre — the showroom a customer visits to choose the inclusions for their new home build. It is the point where thousands of individually small decisions get made in a single sitting, and the point where a buyer is most likely to feel out of their depth.
The Product
The app runs on the showroom floor, in the customer's hands or alongside a consultant. Rather than a folder of swatches and a separate price list, the selection process is one guided flow: see the option, see it in context, and see what it does to the build.
Key Features
- Guided colour and inclusions selection
- Built for iPad, sized for a showroom table rather than a desk
- Deployed in Metricon's Studio M centre in Queensland
An enterprise build, on a builder's timeline
Metricon is a national home builder, and the app had to work in front of paying customers from the first appointment — there was no soft launch. That constraint shaped it more than any feature did: the flow is short, and it does one job.
Enterprise clients bring gates that a startup build never sees — procurement, brand approval, and the question of what happens to a customer's selections after the appointment ends. A Launch Gate Audit exists to find those before launch rather than after.
